AMS CALENDAR

    10/12 - School Closed in Observance of Columbus Day
    10/14 - Students can purchase breast cancer awareness items during lunch (socks - $5, bracelets, keychains, & scrunchies - $1)
    10/16 - Fall Treat Sale - sweets (brownies, cupcakes, cookies) will be available for purchase during lunch periods
    10/16 - The Smithtown Robotics Team is hosting G.I.R.L.S. Night: Girls Inspiring Robotics and Leadership in STEM. The event will take place from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the East Library. The event is open to all middle school and high school girls in Smithtown.
    10/19 - Red Ribbon Week - Encourages students to be a "Hero" & stay drug free. Activities are planned throughout the week.
    10/20 - Family connect Night
    10/23 - Popcorn Friday - $1 per bag
    10/30 - AMS Spirit Day / Wear your Halloween Costume

    *The FinalForms will start accepting registration 10/8/26 for Quarter 2 Sports, which include Cheerleading, Girls Volleyball, and Boys Basketball.
    1. The Health Office needs a copy of a recent physical. The doctor needs to complete the Family Cardiac History & all activities without restriction section. He has to sign and stamp page 2 on the district physical form.
    2. Select the sport in your FinalForms account.
    3. Sign the forms in the forms section of FinalForms.
    4. The student athlete must sign the code of conduct and concussion acknowledgement in their account.
    *Registration on FinalForms must be done by 10/30/26 so that the nurse has time to complete the clearance prior to the start of the season.

HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

    Students will be permitted to wear costumes to school on Friday, October 30th.
    As Halloween approaches, please discuss the following safety rules with your child:
    *No masks or props;
    *No shaving cream, silly string, paintballs, spray paint, or eggs;
    *No revealing or inappropriate costumes;
    ***Students who behave in an inappropriate manner, or violate any of the above, will be subject to disciplinary action and jeopardize the right to wear costumes next year.

GRADE 6 FALL HARVEST DANCE

    On Friday, November 6th, AMS will host the 6th grade Fall Harvest Dance. Tickets are available via the PTA store, or for your convenience you can click HERE to purchase your child's dance ticket. The dance will be held in the AMS cafeteria from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. All students must present their AMS ID card for admission to the dance. For the safety of our students, we ask that you enter the building to pick up your child. Thank you.

SOCIAL STUDIES - LUNCHTIME EXTRA HELP

    The Lunchtime Learning Center provides support to help students master class content, catch up on lessons, and succeed!

AFTER SCHOOL LIBRARY

    Afterschool library is held Tuesday through Thursday ONLY, until 3:45 pm. Students can be picked up or take the 4:10 pm late bus home.

WALKER & BUS PASSES

    If students wish to go home on a bus with another student or walk home, A NOTE IS REQUIRED FOR BOTH STUDENTS. Have your child bring a note to the AMS Main Office.
    If your child will be a PERMANENT WALKER - send in a note to express permission to walk home during the 2026-2027 school year. It must be dated and signed by a parent.
